John, originally from England, is a fun-loving
 entertainer easily switching from rollicking
crowd-pleasing audience-participation
songs to tender and poignant ballads.
During his 20 odd, sometimes very odd,
years performing in the Washington D.C.
area and points North and South along the
East Coast as well as the San Francisco
area and many tours in Europe, John has
built both a solid repertoire and reputation as a performer and as a musician. He has played with Pete Seeger, Steven Stills, Don Williams and a host of well-known Blue-Grass bands. In addition, John has played with various Country Bands as well as the new Orleans-based group “The Celtic Folk”. Later he teamed with Paul Martin to become the “Ferrymen”, a very popular East Coast Irish duo. In-between bands John has always performed as a solo artist combining his various musical experiences and influences into an eclectic mix of American, Irish, English and Scottish folk/rock music. Not only a witty and engaging performer, loving to interact with the audience, John is also a very accomplished guitar player.

To Chelsea’s right in the circle was grizzled troubadour, John Longbottom who has played with the all-time greats of folk, including Pete Seeger, Steven Stills, Don Williams, and with many bluegrass bands. John teemed-up with Paul Martin from the Ferrymen, a wildly popular East Coast Irish duo. As I found out, John is a witty and engaging performer who possesses advanced chops on acoustic guitar. He has a thousand funny stories to go with his thousand original songs. John’s songs are indeed eclectic from his Irish folk influences to his hokey stories of living in a small town in Ohio. Indeed, John is an entertaining artist who knows his way round his guitar neck and his massive Ovation 12 & 6 string double neck.

Meanwhile, Longbottom is an Englishman (with an Irish heart) who's now living
at the beach. He's been taking a break from the music career he had in the
Washington, D.C., area, but has still been popping up at a few open mike
nights. Definitely worth hearing, especially if he brings his two-neck guitar.
